How are you uninstalling? If even one file is left it can cause conflicts upon reinstalling. (don't ask me why in today's technology!) See other posting: 'Can someone PLEASE respond to this!!!' It may help.
Thanks Laz. Yes I saw this message and managed to reinstall the CD ok, now I have a hard time to redownload the update. Should I see the original (gold yellow V) icon on the desktop or a light bleu one?
The download rate was atrocious last night...
I hope this was the first and only one crash I encounter with Xp....
I have to reinstall DV bridge and the rest.... what a pain...
THANKS AGAIN....
No, Laz, I don't know what caused it nor the Tech.... He says it happens...but couldn't not tell me exactly the cause....
I will have to bring back the PC again as it is not 100% corrected... The music still looses a bit when Windows Xp is opening after restarting....
A crash can happen for any number of reasons, but it never just happens. It could be conflicts in OS, conflicts between software or worms/trojans picked up from net. If it's xp home conflict I'll e-mail you a good article I got from VW forum.
Thanks Laz.
I would greatly appreciate the article....
I must say I have been too busy during day time to play with my editing lately.... and the weather being nicer... I have to take some sunlight... I started to look like an endive....per my friends....
And probably and bit scared to mess up more....
By the way.... I read a message about a way to end all the programs running in the background "enditall", (posted by Kgrewal ap 23 2002, Today it is # 118) it seems that I could use this idea, but it doesn't say if it is ok with XP... have you read this?
Thanks again.
I thought I could post to your own address to save using this forum, so apologies if annoying to anyone. Anyway, install of xp has to be done in specific way (which you may have done):
I suggest downloading the Upgrade Advisor from the Microsoft XP website, run that first and it will tell you what you may need to patch etc, before you upgrade. That way you can download and do any patching etc, before the OS upgrade and have a smoother experience. NOTE: When upgrading to xp (or any os) don't just disable antivirus... unistall it completely and reinstall after upgrade. Plus, uninstall any low level apps like Goback, Ghost etc before upgrade. These points are critical.
enditall is good, but be careful - you could end it all if used incorrectly.
I know what you mean. editing and forum-chat can get addictive. Managed to see Star Wars last night- brilliant.
