Cannot remove media(even though it's been deleted)

I created a template in 4 to use. I added some media to it and inadvertently saved it under the template name. I deleted the media from the project window and resaved the template. Now every time I open the template, it keeps looking for that media. Is there a way to get rid of it completely like in Vegas with the Remove All Unused Assets button?

If you look in the Help File index under custom themes you'll see where DVDA stores themes as xml files. [you might have to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files under the Tools menu -> Folder Options -> View]

You'll probably want to make a copy of your theme, just in case, then edit out any mention of the graphics file and save. You can use Notepad or any text editor, or you might prefer Microsoft's free XML Notepad which hides the XML tags, maybe making it a bit easier.

It's not media in a theme, just video clips that I put into my template and saved it under the template name by mistake instead of the project name. Now that I have finished the project and deleted the clips, every time I open the Template.dar, it keeps looking for those clips and tells me they are offline. Argh, very annoying.

Sorry -- guess I misunderstood?

A template in Word lets you start a new doc with whatever styles and such already set. DVDA uses themes instead. If you've just saved a project under the name "template" , then I'd imagine all you need to do is resave the project, possibly with a new name.

As a very quick test, I dragged a video to Menu1 in a new project and saved. I then opened that project after moving the video file to another folder, selecting to leave the media offline when DVDA asked. I deleted the button linking to that video & saved again. Opening the project a 3rd time no problem.

The only glitch I can think of at the moment is the less obvious media &/or links left assigned to a menu page or button etc., where you'd want to explicitly remove it in properties.
