Cannot Render Project/Encode Mode???

Hi! I'm new to the forum, but not new to Sony Vegas (although I'm not an expert at it). I've been using Sony Vegas Platinum 9 for about 2 years now. I've worked on a lot of projects.... but this latest project of mine has been such a pain! I've had this come up several times: "An error occurred during the current operation. An Exception has occurred." This has never happened before. Most of the video files I use are WMV (some are MP4). Again, I've used both types of files in the past and this error has never occurred until now. Anyway, after so many attempts to avoid the error (having to restart Sony Vegas 4120347129 times), I finally finished my project. BUT! After rendering my project, THERE SEEMS TO BE NO VIDEO! I can hear the audio, but I see no video! WHY?! So I did some more research... and I'm hearing that as long as I change my encode mode to "CPU", then I should be able to render my project without any problems. BUT another problem is.... I CAN'T FIND ENCODE MODE ANYWHERE ON MY SONY VEGAS 9! Apparently, you can find it under "Render As", but it is not there under SV 9. It's like a curse and I'm not meant to do this project!!!!!!!

Any suggestions? I am not an expert at Sony Vegas nor any computer/technology stuff... so help me as if you're helping a dummy (A dummy's guide).

Thanks so much!

Jessica,

It would really help the knowledgeable folks here to help you, if you posted your system specs in your profile.

Go to 'My Account' and 'System Profile' and fill in.

You also may want to post this in the Studio forum as this one is for the Vegas Pro users.

I am a Vegas Pro user so don't know much about the Studio version. As Tom says, you may get better help in the Vegas Studio forum.

It looks like you are asking how to turn off GPU processing and therefore only use the CPU for processing. If Vegas Studio supports GPU processing then I presume you enable or disable it the same as in the Pro version, which is via Options>Preferences. Select the Video tab. 3rd item down says "GPU acceleration of video processing". Select "off".

I doubt very much that Studio 9 would have GPU acceleration, however.

I have no other suggestion to help you, unfortunately.

Peter, I wonder if the enquiry relates to having moved from Plat studio to Vegas Pro, that was initially how I interpreted it. I'm now confused. Also wondering what format Jessica is trying to render as an output.

She only mentions version 9, which is a couple of years old now, whichever flavour of Vegas you look at, so I don't think she would have moved from Studio 9 to Pro 9. GPU processing only arrived with version 11 of Pro, if that is what she is talking about. I think GPU acceleration first came to Studio with version 10.

Hi everyone! Thank you all for your responses! I'm so sorry I did not reply sooner! I am working on a new project again and I'm having the same problem... AGAIN!

My MAIN CONCERN right now is that every time I try to upload videos into sony vegas library, I get this error: "An error occurred during the current operation. An Exception has occurred." And yes, I'm still using Sony Vegas Platinum 9!

These are all MP4 videos that I'm trying to upload! PLEASE HELP!!!!

Also, I just updated my system profile (hopefully, it's the correct information), if it helps anyway. Thanks so much!

I've had experience with platinum 10&11 and pro 11. The GPU render option you're referring to only appeared in platinum 11 if I remember correctly, not in 9 or 10. Have you installed any addition video encoding software or codec packs recently? I'm thinking this may have messed up your Vegas codecs.
