Cannot start Vegas Pro 20. How to diagnose it?

TTTT wrote on 5/17/2023, 12:30 PM

Hello, I haven't used Vegas Pro 20 for a few weeks/months. I don't think I made any changes to the computer that should be relevant for Vegas (other than the daily grind: upgrading Nvidia "studio" drivers, installing the latest Vegas Pro build (some time in April), upgrding NeatVideo for Vegas Pro, update some iZotope stuff, Windows updates... Oh and aslo maybe: I uninstalled Vegas Pro 19.)

Now when I try to start Vegas Pro 20, I see the splash screen, it starts loading stuff and then it vanished and , no Vegas.

- I tried running Vegas again: same thing

- I checked Windows > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Applications : nothing

- Checked "[user files] > AppData > Local > Magix > ErrorReport" and "[user files] > AppData > Local > VEGAS Pro> ErrorReport" : nothing recent there

- I see that 12 files have be updated in "[user files] > AppData > Local > VEGAS Pro > 20.0" : but I'm not sure where I should look at.

I don't remember if Vegas Pro has other more straightforward error logs.

There was a problem with Versions 19 and 20 after mai 3.
To overcome this there are new builds.
See here the one for Vegas 20 : https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-20-build-403-general-thread--140737/

The weird thing is that many of us never got the 'warning e-mail' about this bug.

What I understand from others is that a mail was send, with a notice about this severe bug.

But me, myself and also I did never receive it (and I am a customer way back to 1993 I think, with the exact same mail I used to buy Sound Forge (Windows 3.11) than).

Yeah, I know the bug is about Vegas 19 / 20, but I mean : they do have my credentials...
