Did you test if Vegas Pro reads these Canon files at all? Imho Canon is known to often use non-standard proprietary modifications of codecs.

Hi Marco. No. Not yet. We want to use the Canon C300 Mk2 and I read that Vegas does not handle .Mxf files. I previously had to transcode Panasonic .mxf files for Vegas 13 so I wondered if Vegas 17 had updated to handle them. We have a big volume of work so transcoding is not viable and neither is using an external recorder to generate Pro Res files. I guess I will have to get some sample files and see if Vegas 17 will accept them.

MXF is just a wrapper and Vegas Pro works fine with MXF if inside is standardized X-AVC, XDCAM HD or if it's based on Panasonic P2.
