Looks like it's a revised version of the XH A1 from my quick reading of the features.
"The lens now features a new control ring design, as well as simultaneous, independent control of Focus, Iris and Zoom. Lens ring operation can be modified to suit the individual user’s needs."
Don't know how that differs to the previous incarnation.
On the 'old' XHA1 you cannot zoom and focus at the same time due to the lens design. Its one of the biggest annoyances with the camera. looks like Canon were listening to the customers at last.

theres that, there is also the apparent use of on cam and xlr mics, in addition to a gain adjustment in incremements of 1db as opposed to beign stuck on 6+ or a whopping jump to 12+ which introduces horible noise. 9+ would be ideal with this camera actually... consideirng 6+ is noiseless altogether
Its a great camera no doubt, but there are manuy thngs tht coudl be improved, such as the LCD, viewfinder, colour rendition between BOTH (theyre not identical so each need to be calibratied seperately) audiosux dogs balls, teh on cam mic isnt worth $5, the lense has the tendency to pick up internal dust, many reports of random dead pixels (mine included, which reqired a reboot to fix... if ur lucky... )
I could go on...
I absolutely love the A1 - for the price you it beats every camera in it's range, however it seems like Canon always holds out for their revision models what should have gone into the original. Granted the A1 is darn near perfect IMO but the lack of on board and xlr inputs used together and the zoom and focus not working together was just poor planning. The 6 pin firewire is awesome and should be on every cam from here on out. Would be nice to see Canon enter the solid state market at a professional level though or I think their days as strong competitors are numbered.
Had mine for just over a year now, super-great cam. I'm not completely sure, my camera is not with me right now, but I believe the gain settings are selectable from the menu, so the +12 can be set to whatever you want, like +9?
