Canon XL2 & XLH1 Capture

I just purchased the Vegas Movie Studio Platinum from the Sony store and the sales/tech rep doesn't wnat to help me. I purchased this software because the other NLE software competitor didn't help either.

I own both The Canon XL2 & XLH1. The VMS doesn't see these cameras. I can't use this software to control the capture just like the competitor's. It's a waste of my money. Should I look for a third one now. Is the an update? or is this feature in the Pro series bundle?

Help?

Possibly support for these cameras can be found on only PRO software too. Why didn't you download the TRIAL version of Vegas 8 before purchasing it? Also, make sure your cameras are set to "HDV mode", not SD/HD-SDI.

I would think that both those cams should work. Standard Def (DV) & HDV Mode. If you recorded to the DV tape in the correct format(s). Does your windows operating system even recognize the cams?
Are you connecting via firewire? Are you using Service Pack 2 with XP?
In VMS 8 Platinum (for capturing HDV video) what are you steps being used to capture.

It would help if you pick & troubleshoot one format at a time (DV / HDV). Both are not working?
