Canopus ACEDVio

Maybe someone can help me.

I got the Canopus ACEDVio with Vegas 4.0.
Somehow, i cannot capture a VHS tape.
The VCR is connected true a SCART to S-Video cable, wich are plugged in into the capture card.

I think somehow Vegas is only connecting to the DV In port, not the analog in port.
When I want to capture i only see a black screen and on the capture card a orange led is burning, wich is normally green.
I recieve no error from vegas, but no video or audio.

I'm running WinXP pro with SP1, updated the capture cards drivers and vegad 4.0d update.

Hope someone can help.

Harrie

I've never used this gadget but until somehow who has can give you some advice..
I'd say you're right, you've probably had an error message already from VVs capture program saying it can find a capture device and switched off machine control.

I think you need to now select the capture device, assuming the ACEDVio's drivers are laoded. Come to think of it the Canopus box should have some good words on this very subject, particulalry as they are shipping it with VV!

I have the ADVC-1394 which is the sams as the ACEDVio card without Analog output. I have a Sima Video Copy Master inbetween the VCR and the front bay analog inputs. Vegas sees the VCR just fine including the menue on the VCR. Does the ACEDVio card come with a preview screen on the driver software? If so you should be able to see the player there before you capture in Vegas. If you still cannot see it there it's probably not Vegas with the problem. Also have you tried removing the scart you have in between and connect your source deck the ACEDVio card straight away and see if that works. Lastly post you question in the Canopus Forum for the ACEDVio Family and see if they can help you there too.
Every now and then I'll put in a tape from family member and try to capture with Vegas and cannot get anything, then it hits me turn on the Copy master power, so the video can get to the ADVC card, then it works just fine.
Also there are Jumpers on the ADVC-1394 card that can set the priotity of the analog to the firewire but I believe it should by default, have the analog ports to take first priority and the ACEDVio should be similar. I had to reset the Jumers in the J series the get my firewire to work on the front bay, but everthing should be set to the rear ports by default. Check your manual for the ACEDvio card for that though.

Also, make sure you have device control and scene detection turned off. They do not work with analog source even through an A/D converter or D8 passthrough.

Thanks for the reply's.

Device control and scene detection turned off, no results.
Have send a e-mail to Canopus about this problem.
If they cannot help me to fix it I will return the card.

Maybe one of you has a suggestion for another Capture Card?
