Canopus ADVC-1394 card .. any comments?

Anyone have any comments on this card? According to the website it:

1. is a DV card
2. converts analog video to locked DV
3. converts analog input to mpg1 & mpg2
4. lists for $249
5. comes with VV 3.0 LE which can be upgraded to the full version for $200

I sounds like a good card to get DV and amalog into VV.

In other posts some folks said to avoid like the plague dv cards that had analog in. However, everything I read said that Canopus has one of the best analog to dv codecs.

Anyone have any comments on this card?

A lot of people here seem to use the ADVC-100 . The main benefit of that over the 1394 appears to be with the 100 you can go back out to analog & can't with the 1394.

Vonhosen is correct. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra $50 for the ADVC-100. (You'll also be able to use it to preview your video on an external television)

In order to use the ADVC-100 you will also need a firewire (1394) port in your computer if you don't already have one. But good OHCI compliant 1394 cards sell in the $20 to $50 range.

Anyone have an analytical appraisal of the differences, pros and cons, between the ADVC-100 and the DataVideo DAC-2?

I have heard a few disparaging things about the ADVC-100, but nothing bad about the DAC-2. In particular, the DAC-2 seems to have component in/out, in addition to S-Video in/out, whereas the ADVC-100 doesn't. Is the DAC-2's component in/out of high quality? Better than the ADVC-100's S-Video?

Experts, please!
