cant get audio unmuted

I muted audio from, I believe, a pull down menu. It wasn't done at the track header as it probably should have been. Now it will playback in the trimmer but will not playback in the Master no matter what I've tried:

After reading and trying everything in "Help" I've actually tried deleting the program I was working on, deleted and re captured the source (from a DVD), even deleted and reinstalled the software (Vegas Movie Studio Platinum) ,
- all to no avail. What have I done?!

Have you inadvertently lowered the track volume envelope to 'inf' or very low? Show/Hide the audio volume envelope by hitting the 'V' key on your keyboard.
Additionally, right-click the audio event, select 'Properties' and confirm that 'Mute' is not check marked. You can 'Normalize' the audio event in that same window.
Also check the 'event gain'. Normally a thin blue line appears when the top the audio event is dragged down.

As MarkWWW suggests, goto Options | "Mute All Audio"

That setting, as well as it's partner "Mute All Video", is 'remembered' by Vegas, so even if you Exit and restart, or select a New Project, those settings will be active.... an interesting 'feature' !
