Capture 3.0 doesn’t see my Canon XL1S

I have installed Vegas 3.0a on my 1.7Ghz P4 running Windows XP. I have a Canopus DVRaptor card. The card works and captures with the Canopus software, but when I try SF Video Capture 3.0 I get, “The device ‘USB Dual-mode Camera’ could not be opened.” I don’t have a USB Camera. I have the XL1S plug into the DVRaptor via my Firewire cord. Any ideas?

Its not the camera, at least not in a general sense.

I have the XL1s, plugged into a 1394 card in my Dell 8100 (1.4g P4), and it captures flawlessly.

I have the same machine. Just 1.8g. What sort of capture card are you using?

Heh. I have the same machine as YOU -- Dell 1.8Ghz P4 -- and an XL1s, which works fine with Vegas. I'm using a generic 1394 card.

I'm sure you know, but just in case, Vegas won't support the special features of your Canopus card if and when you get it working. Sonic Foundry has taken a hardware agnostic approach to building a video editor, and only supports fully OHCI compliant 1394 cards. That may be the root of your problem, I don't know.

Thanks for the help. I did get a reply from Vegas people. Luxo your right it doesn't support my card. I just ordered an ADS Pyro card. It is a "/3 port Fire Wire cards using the Texas Instruments (TI)" which is what techsupport wrote to me. Not sure what I'll do with my DVRaptor. Ebay it I guess.
