Capture audio only?

Ok, here's an interesting question...

I've captured several VHS videos just fine. However, I have an old audio tape which I want to capture to my PC and cleanup.

Can I do this in Video Factory? I realize I must have some method for getting the audio from my tape deck to the PC (currently either the audio-in on the sound card (sound blaster live) or via my Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge).

Thanks

You should be able to get an adaptor from Radio Shack to connect your deck to your audio-in on your sound card. Also, you should be able to use your Dazzle if you have the right adaptor.

Arm VF for record, and your all set. Your clip will drop in your media pool.

""...which I want to capture to my PC and cleanup.""

For editing, this should be easy with VF. If it is noise, or hum you want to clean up, then SF Noise Reduction software will help.

I've plugged the output from a record/vinyl playing deck via a standard Pioneer amplifier into my line-in plug. Works for me! I've "cleaned-up" several scratchy vinyl Beatles, Stones and John Mayall - anybody remember him? As long as you have enough umph coimng into your line-in - ie analogue tape deck via an amplifier, it should work.

Have you already got noise-reduction s/w? If so, it's probably got its own audio capture facility. If you plan to split the audio into individual tracks the s/w to do that will also have audio capture.

Grazie - would that be the John Mayall who's currently touring in the UK with Peter Green?

Yup! If that would be the "Peter Green" of the original Fleetwood? - Hell I thought he'd croaked it? JM in UK - I knew it was on - when is Channel 4 going to cover it - a la Old Grey Whistle Test! Maybe Jools Holland would cover it?
