Capture DV from camcorder analog in?

My VX-2000 allows capturing from the analog video and audio inputs if DV-out is enabled in the camera. Vegas capture doesn't seem to like doing it. I get the message "device stopped" on the capture window unless the tape transport is running. Other capture programs I've used don't have this problem. Capturing live from the camera itself works fine.

What am I doing wrong, I hope?

If you want to capture live video, inside the Vegas capture program go into the menu Options->Preferences and uncheck Enable DV device control. This will stop it from trying to control the camera’s tape transport and should stop the device messages (since you’re not using a tape).

In VidCap, under Options / Preferences, uncheck the box that says "Enable DV device control". That should fix it for you.

I still think we should get a real-time Vegas chat going on sometime. I've got the place to do it and you're all welcome. Now we just have to find a time when some of us can get together.

Just cause VV has 5.1 doesn't mean you have to post in it :)
