Capture & DVD Burning

I am considering purchasing the Canopus ADVC-100. I visited their web-site but was unable to determine if it can convert TV broadcasts. Can someone please advise if this is possible?

Also, I recently purchased a new van that has (of course) a DVD player. Problem is that none of the DVD's I make will play. Not sure why this is. I have rendered the files in Vegas and have used Sonic's MyDVD to burn but have not had any success. I have also tried a couple of other programs for burning; DVD Decrypter and InstantCopy. Any ideas on what the problem may be? Is it the DVD player, the software I have used to burn or could it be
the media. I have used TDK, Memorex & Fuji and none of them have worked.

Yes. Works great. I have used the Canopus ADVC-100 for several months and it performs flawlessly.

It will record TV broadcasts.

Excellent investment.

Which media format did you use (DVD - R or DVD + R)? That made a difference in some of the home DVD players that my family uses. Some don't play the + disks. All played the DVD - R disks.

Paul the AVDC-100 works great for what you want it to do. I have never had had any experience with DVD palyers in vehicles but I would think it would be a standard commercial model. I have used TDK and have pretty much settled on Verbatum Datalife DVD -R blanks. I have burned many DVD's with Ulead Movie Factory 2 and most currently with DVDlab. My DVD's have been played in at least 5 different DVD players of greatly varying ages without a fail. I burn them in a Pioneer A-05 burner. Do you have standalone player or a friend who does? If so, try your DVD's in one of those and see if the results are the same or not. All my DVD are -R. You did not say whether your were -R or +R. That may make a difference since all the manufacturers you listed make both kinds.

Thanks for the info. I am definitely going to put the ADVC-100 on my shopping list. I was considering the new HP device but I already have the burner so that doesn't make much sense. I want to be able to capture and convert some TV shows and burn them to DVD.

The DVD's I'm using are DVD+R. A friend of mine burned a DVD for me with X Copy and that one worked fine in the van. He has one of those HP multimedia PC's. Not sure if those use +R or -R.
