Sorry, but at my age of 70 I can't search 11000 messages. Years ago I recorded personal video to VHS tape, and I burned it to DVD with a Sony RDR-VX 525 VHS/DVD recorder.
Can I get the content off the DVD which contains the VOB files I need, into Vegas Movie Studio 10? I can't find anything that works.
Since you made the DVD yourself there is no CSS protection on the video files therefore you can simply load the .vob files directly into Vegas. VOB files are mpeg 1 or 2 video and audio program streams which Vegas can decode.
From the "Import Media" menu item/button navigate into the VIDEO_TS directory on the DVD. There you will see the *.vob files only after you change the filter "Files of type" to all files(*.*) . Next import the first .vob file into Vegas. Repeat for any other .vob files until you have all the content you are interested in. Now the vob files are in the project media tab you can edit as desired.
