capture is wonky after dual CPU upgrade

JDeGraff wrote on 9/9/2002, 6:09 PM
Just upgraded to second processor on 1.7ghz Xeon Dell running Win2K, and now my capture is wonky. When I hit any of the vcr controls the capture window will pull up the first frame of video, then that's it. Meanwhile, the vcr is playing away (Sony GV-D900). When I'm trying to capture 320x240, the capture window eventually catches up after roughly 30 seconds. Full NTSC was taking longer than that so I gave up. There something special I have to do with Vegas after upgrading to dual proc? Rendering out a previous project works fine, but capture's another story.

Best,
Jesse

This is the first I have heard of this. Are all other applications and processes working correctly? Any tech notes on Microsoft.com that apply to your hardware configuration?

I'm also getting exception errors when I start the program sometimes (seems to be only the first time starting the program after boot). Everything else seems to be working fine, including multi-threaded rendering in Lightwave (which showed the best speed improvement of Cleaner, Vegas, & Lightwave btw). I haven't checked the tech notes yet, but I'll try wading through those shortly. In the meantime, here's the exception error fwiw...

First off, please update to Vegas 3.0c (current). To be safe, when you open an existing project, please save it TO A NEW NAME right away- and you'll have access to the original project if you need to revert to 3.0a for some reason. I'm not sure this will fix anything, but 3.0c is what we are all running here.

I've got two little 2 minute vids that I need to do first, then I'm going to start working on fixing this issue again. I CAN get video to capture, but I basically have to let the video pre-roll for 30 to 45 seconds before hitting the "capture video" button. What I'm currently noticing is that after the cpu(s) throttle up [I THINK that's what's going on...the sound the computer makes changes], it seems to work normally or reasonably normally as long as it doesn't throttle down. Until then, the first frame sticks and you don't get any audio or moving video.

After installing DX8.1 & the 3.0c update, it seems to be back to normal...I'll let you guys know of any hiccups.
