Capture live switch from Pan HS300

I'm putting together a system to do 2 things:
1. capture a worship service for DVD distribution
2. capture / edit the same worship service for streaming

I have the cameras and switcher, Panasonic AV-HS300. The switcher does not have FW outputs, but has SDI and analog HD component. For the time being, I will have everything running in an SD format.

What is the best "bang for the buck" to capture video from the switcher?

I would think the Black Magic card for $1000 would be your best bet. The Aja Xena will also work, but it costs more. I believe that the Xena is currently supported by Vegas 8, whereas the Black Magic is not

Are you shooting HD or SD? The HS300 will only output SD via SDI.

You can use the software that comes with the Black Magic card to capture audio and video. Then open them in vegas or what ever NLE you want to use.

The next step is choosing a format to record in. We use DVCpro50 on Macs at our church. But the files recorded are Mac only. I personnaly don't think that is the best way to work. Uncomprerssed SD will work on almost any system, but the file sizes are quite large. Cineform may work well for you, but you'll need to buy the codec for the capture machine.
