Capture Problem

When I connect my Sony Camcorder to my laptop via my firewire cable, and try to capture video, I get the message "The device 'No Capture Device' could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and is not being used by another application or user.

If I click 'OK' I get the Capture screen but the message is 'Preview is turned off'.

I was able to capture video without problems until now. The only difference in my system, is that I had purchased Roxio. I thought that perhaps Roxio had overwritten some necessary files, so I've uninstalled, cleaned up unused files, and run Win Doctor. I am at a loss.

Anyone out there able to help me, Please

Roxio, formerly MGI Videowave, is NOTORIOUS for damaging registry settings. I'd do a repair install of Vegas and try again. Uninstalling won't fix what it did to other things. MGI was sued before Roxio bought them, because of what they were doing to Premiere and other tools a couple years back.
Good luck!

Thanks...I figured I'd need to do that and have been turning my office upside down looking for my CD's to reinstall. What a drag! Thanks again

Spot, I didn't know that, "MGI was sued before Roxio bought them, . . " Hmmm .. it is starting to fall into place now ..
