capture question

I captured some video I recently filmed in North Carolina. For some reason the video is split into 15 different avi's.
I guess this is when I was turning the camera on and off between shots. Is there a setting I can use in Vegas 4.0 to have the video captured as one avi? Thanks in advance.

Yes. Turn OFF "Scene Detect".

One last question; now that I have all these avi's can i put them all on the timeline and render them as 1 avi without any serious loss in quality? Would like to avoid re-capturing.

The only time Vegas re-renders is if you add anything (dissolves, FX, titles, etc.) to the original video. Otherwise, no changes whatsoever. BTW, Vegas is recognized as having a very good encoder so quality loss really isn't an issue.
