Are there any objections to capture over one hour of video with Vegas using FireWire from a DVX100B and record multitrack audio for Dolby Digital projects using Cubase or the like simultaniously on a laptop?
To record I have either FireWire or USB options.
Any tips and pitfalls?
You will be able to record fine with most any option you try. Sync will be another issue. You may have to do some manual tweaking to get the audio & video to line up afterwards.
You could record the audio in Vegas if you wish. Start up another instance of Vegas and record away while capturing the video.
Yes, syncing will be a headache. I just cannot figure out a hard-/software set-up that allows syncing multitrack audio with the video.
So you're saying there's no CPU overload using two applications at the same time causing stutter, jitter, dropouts and the like?
And it doesn't matter to capture both video and audio over FireWire instead of capturing video by FireWire and audio by USB?
There is no technical preference?
Are you sure I can use Vegas for multitrack audio recording like with a Mackie Onyx FireWire interface which comes with Traction 2?
