Capture Video - Audio Distorted

I am using Vegas 9 on a machine with Windows 7. When I try to capture video and audio from a video camera, the audio is distorted.

I know the problem is not with the computer hardware, camera or connections because I can do a clean capture. I have a dual boot machine and I can get a clean capture if I start in Windows XP and capture with Windows Movie Maker.

What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do to capture video with clean sound in Vegas?

Thanks

That's a bit vague. You would need to provide some details:

Type of video and camera you are trying to import from.
Capture method and device being used.
Capture program being used.
Capture format.

That being said, Vegas captures via firewire do not "distort" the audio. It copies it sample for sample, exactly as it was recorded. But with some basic details, we may be able to determine what you are hearing.
