Captured 30p video clips are chopped up

I have been having a problem capturing 30p Mini DV video clips into Vegas Video 4.0. I have the 4b update installed as well. The captured clips are chopped up into several small clips that vary in size. I don't have this problem when I do an advanced capture with in's and out's, but when I capture 30p footage (60i works fine) the video will be saved to the HD as several clips. The breaks come in the middle of recorded footage where no scene changes have occurred (all one shot). I have set the preferences to 29.97, progressive. It seems to be detecting dropped frames when I capture that way, but non-drop doesn't seem to be an option. Both of my HD's are NTFC formatted. The footage was shot on an XL1. Can anyone help?

Subject: VV4 Capture breaking up AVI into little chunks...

As you know VV4 breaks up your captures into little chunks. I hate this! It sucks for movie capturing. It even interupts my batch capturing by putting it's little 'chunk' cutoff in the middle of a short clip that I would rather have in it's intirety. Is there a way that I can turn this off or increase the time/size of the chunk?

Thanks in advance?
Lamont

Just copied this into your post to show my need to find an answer to this same problem.

Are these previously used tapes by chance?

No, the tapes were brand new. I'm importing off of a submaster. Both the submaster and the master were new tapes. Dennis, if you capture in "Advanced Mode" it doesn't seem to chop the clips up. Hope that helps. I had the same problem with V3 and v4 with and without the 4b update. It seems to have something to do with 30p video and dropped frames. Is 30p supposed to be imported as non-drop? Somebody please help! This sucks! -a major hangup on an otherwise fantastic editing program.

Do you have a camera that does true 30p or did you use software to convert your 60 to 30----????
