Are you using the Video Capture program that comes with Vegas? Is your camcorder set to VCR/playback mode? Does your computer recognize the camcorder when connected? XP? Vista?

Plug the cable into the computer's firewire port. THEN, be sure you have the camcorder turned OFF when you connect the cable to the camera.

Only then do you turn the camcorder on. If the computer recognizes the camcorder you will hear it beep. Many camcorders turn on in the CAMERA mode. You will need to switch it to VCR mode to upload video to your computer. (I usually do that as soon as I turn the camcorder on)

If this procedure does not work .. see if you can try another camera on your computer .. or take your camcorder and try it on a different computer .. in order to try to figure out where the problem may lie.
