Capturing HDV Video

How can I capture HDV video directly to either AVI or MOV format? I've been capturing as MPEG2 default and then rendering into AVI using the HDV 1080i 60 template. I'm not sure if this is the best workflow. I need the AVI and MOV formats to use for a video effects program fxhome VisionLab Studio. Thanks for your input!

I believe that HDV is an M2T in a MPEG2 wrapper (I believe it stands for MPEG2 Transport Stream. I don't think you can capture it as anything else without going through a converter (if that is possible) and that is basically what you are doing by rendering to an avi. But someone with much more knowledge should pop up here soon.

Install the freeware Lagarith or Huffyuv lossless codecs. Export via them (under the AVI "custom" dialog) and if FXHome uses Windows' DirectShow API, it will also recognize these codecs and accept your footage. However, it would be best if FXHome supported m2t files directly. Make sure that it can't first, maybe it can do it if you install FFDshow or another codec pack.
