Carter Compositing Mode

Hello,

I am attempting to create a 30 sec Intro for my DVD project using three layered clips on the timeline that will run at the same time. When I play it only the top video clip is visible and I hear the music but the other two clips are not visible. The timeline Set Default Track Properties have Composite Mode, Height, and Track FX selected. What have I done wrong?

When the Composite Mode is selected the two options are Multiple Mask and Source Alpha. There should be an Add, Subtract, Multiply, etc options available. How do I turn on those other Composite Mode options?

I am using Sony Vegas Movie Studio Pro 12, Build 1183.

Thanks.

I am learning Vegas Studio. See the attached screen Shot.

Hi, no attached screen shot in your post.

Movie Studio has limited compositing features. You only get those 2 modes. The resat are in PRO. Did you set your compositing child correctly (the arrow)? Make sure that the appropriate mode is set and that the children tracks are composited as desired (arrows point up and the track is inset).

Good tutorial with Vegas PRO here

Also see here for another PRO tutorial

Same idea in Movie Studio, but we only have 2 modes.

Hello,

After viewing the Creative Cow Compositing Mode video and reading the Sony article I was able to get my three clips to be viewed at the same time! Thank you Markk655! The main clip track is now set to Multiply Mask and the other two clips are Source Alpha.

The final compositing video is really dark. Is there a way to adjust the brightness/opacity for the track clips? I have a volume slider to adjust the sound but is there a video track brightness slider?

I am not sure how to attach a screen capture, sorry.

Thanks.

No attachments are permitted in this forum. You would have to upload to another site and provide a link.

You can add a TrackFX (look for the track icon in the track header). Then add 'Sony Brightness and Contrast'.

If it is opacity, there is a point at the top of the track that you can pull down to lower opacity as needed. Alternatively, go to the menu - Insert>Video Envelopes>Track composite level.

Hello,

Adding the suggested TrackFX Brightness and Contrast did lightened the clip. Thank you for the assistance!

Glad it worked.
