CD Architect 5 update : when ?

Djipy wrote on 5/4/2003, 3:25 AM
I'm wondering when an update is available for CD Architect 5.

1) I could never make it work properly with my cd-writer (HP 7500) : the burn process works until about 85% then crashes because of an empty buffer...
I've got no information until now to fix that problem.

2) There is still a bug with CD erase (full option) : I have already mentioned that bug in this forum a long time ago and I received an official answer that confirms the bug.

I'm thinking that an update is required. It's a matter of respect towards the customers.

Don't hold your breath, just be satisfied with being a loyal consumer of sofo products, and, an idiot I guess...

1) I have heard about numerous problems with this burner. (Unfortunately...)
Have you checked on HP's website to see if there is a firmware upgrade? I have
heard about problems with all the popular burning programs with this drive.

Also, on a side note, how big is the file you are burning, what speed are you
burning at, and what type of CD media are you using??

2) I remember the mention of this bug. I don't use CD-RW's, so I can test to see
if I can dupe the problem, but hopefully someone else can....

Djipy,

Why do you think a CDA update will sure your problems ? I would suggest that your system may need optimisation for audio and DAO CD burning, and your burner is a 'known-flaky' model.

The full erase option works like the quick option... It's a bug that has been confirm by the technical support. But no update since then...

I could not find any good system requirements specs on this web site. Why is the HP 7500 series incompatible with CDA5 ?

The problem : the burning process begins and the buffer percentage decreases until 0% while burning. If the CD time is short enough, the process terminates correctly. However, with about 60 minutes, buffer underrun occurs. It seems that CDA never refreshes the buffer while burning and runs short of data.
This occurs also with all precautions : no other process running, file pre-rendering, disk defragmented, ...
However, EasyCD creator works fine with this CD burner !

If I plan to buy another burner, which one must I choose for it runs with CDA ? What are the good criterias ? What are the best specs ?

I think your impression is pretty unique.

Politeness prevents me for making observations on some impressions I've been getting over the last few weeks ...
