Thanks alot for your advice.

I would hope that CD-Architect 4.0e is
detecting the drive correctly since this software came
"bundled" with the drive. Which cost'd me about $550 hard
earned dollars.

Now what Peter Heller posted, though disappointing, sounds
more like the fact. That Smart And Friendly's
claim that it's SAF8020 drive can lay down 'info' at - audio data is another story. I sent them e-mail -
no word yet.

the blank I used] and this is what they had to say...

Smart and Friendly has approved TDK's Certified Plus CD-

So I'll see how much these blanks go for and keep ya posted.

What my experiance was seemed to be more media relates - Gold vs
Silver. The
Gold disks always gave me problems with audio.

Yeah I am in agreement there. The TDK blank I used was a
silver backed blue-green dye based 1x to 8x certified.
Actually the box it came displayed 1x to 6x but the jewel
inserts say upto 8x. 8x was how I recorded the audio. I
have'nt tried their "plus" series I mentioned below.

But last night I clean the Yamaha(4x) created disk in hot
water and to my surprise fewer "stutters" on playback.
Then the idea of "starting" temperature of the blank might
slow down the burn effect of the laser.
