CDA 5.2 - Scanning for CD Devices...(indefinitely)

TheVoice1999 wrote on 5/12/2007, 7:50 AM
I've spent about 4 hours trying to resolve an issue with CDA 5.2 not finding the SATA DVD+-RW drives installed on my Dell E520. I downloaded the prog as the add-on to SoundForge 9.0, which DOES recognize BOTH drives for purposes of extracting the audio. But god forbid I try to burn a project using CDA 5.2 - I'm stuck on "Searching for CD devices...." - and ultimately am forced to shut the program down since it NEVER goes beyond that screen or to the working environment.

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit...and CDA 5.2 is supposedly compatible and supported.

Did I miss the ball on this: is there an compatability issue beween CDA 5.2 and SATA CD drives?? Why would SoundForge find my drives, albeit, after a short delay, but CDA won't budge?? (I'm using "HL-DT-ST" model disc drives - apparently, manufactured by HItachi/LG - so I'm not sure if that's another potential issue).

Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions on this?

(And what's with the limited business hours for tech support?)

HI,

I have the EXACT same problem with my CD architect 5.2b. It won't recognize my CD drives. Also I was wondering if you are using Windows Vista? I just upgraded to a new computer too with the Vista OS. Maybe CD Architect is not yet Vista compatible?? What about the firmware updates that Geoff was talking about?? where od you get those firmware updates??
Thanks,

djting1

Geoff - I've updated the Firmware...to no avail.

djting1 - I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate...; the firmware is usually located on the PC and/or disc drive manufacturer's website(s)...also, CDA 5.2b is listed as Vista compatible, so I don't think that's the issue.

...Not sure what else to do at this point, but it is annoying as hell...
