CDA 5.2d Slow Renders

ChipGallo wrote on 1/4/2011, 9:38 AM
I have a recording, 24 bit 48KHz WAV from a Zoom H4n. I edited the file in CD Architect to make it 52 minutes long. I used 3 plugs from iZotope that came with SF (but show up in CDA plugins) to compress and limit, then did a render. It took over 5 hours. A CD burn took over an hour. Does this sound normal? It's a Pioneer DVD burner connected via SATA. Windows XP Pro, 4GB RAM, sound files on a physically separate drive from render file. Quad core Q6600 CPU and all CPUs appear to be tasked during the render.

Thanks,
Chip Gallo

Did you use the plugins on each event, or overall on the master ? If on each event, then sounds about right - the Izo ones do suck a lot of resources, and each plug/instance is essentially running concurrently.

This is a 'problem' that has long been the subject of an update request, like somehow switch the plugins off on the events that are not actively being processed, mainly wrt being able to preview in realtime.

On each event. I'll just run the file through SF first and apply what I need. Hopefully this will speed up the burn too.

[Update: as tested on a concert recorded Monday, 1/17/11, the project works much faster without applying plugs.]
