Sounds like a compatability problem between the drive and CDA. Other than updating the drive firmware there not much to until CDA gets updated. Ha ;-|

Also, Memorex discs in reality are be made by a variety of actual manufacturers, and change source regularly. So what worked last batch, may not be so gtrerat next time.....

I should say that CDA recognizes the burner, and I have used this burner successfully in the past with CDA. The burner works with other programs, just no longer with CDA nor Sound Forge. It's an LG internal burner, and I have searched the internet for firmware updates, but all the sites charge for their services. If anyone knows where I can get a free firmware update for the HL-DT-STDVD-RAM GH2F2LS130 burner, please let me know and I'll try it. Thanks.

firmware updates are free from manufacturer - just go to http://www.lg.com/global/supports/service-sites.jsp?countryCd=global and find your area then device ... I can't find any reference to the model number you supplied, so good idea to check that first....

Thanks for your reply. I did exactly as you suggested and discovered that I do have the latest firmware for my burner. Still no luck.

I've had the same thing happen before. Needed to burn a disc and didn't have any cdr music discs so tried a Memorex cd-r disc and it wouldn't burn in CDA. Windoze recognized the disc and I could burn files in Explorer to it but not music files. Went out and purchased cdr music discs and was able to do the music disc burn in CDA. It shouldn't make a difference between regular cd-r discs and cd-r music discs but in this case it did.

I don't see how having the latest drivers would make a difference in this case or any other case where it worked before and all of a sudden on the same system with the same discs it doesn't.

Music discs are different from regular only in that you pay more. The difference here would be Memorex, which are almost unanimously considered the worst.

Thanks for your replies. I will go out and get another brand of disks and report back to you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's this simple.
