CDA5 - yet more ideas

I know it should be 'what it sounds like' rather than 'what it looks like', and I haven't quite figured out the logic, but with respect to plugins I would really like a SForge-style 'Process Selection' type of function 'per track' and 'per disc'.

This could be offered at three 'levels:
1 - Just affect the displayed waveform view
2 - Process copies of source media
3 - Apply to source media directly

OK, Not this release, but maybe 5.1 ?

Since CD Architect is a red book burning program, and the red book standard doesn't include 5.1, it's not likely that CD Architect would support burning 5.1. A regular CD player wouldn't be able to read a 5.1 encoded disc anyway.

I think Geoff meant maybe version 5.1 as opposed to the initial release of CD Architect. Not 5.1 surround sound.

Mainly, that's what the "Open in Sound Editor" and "Open Copy in Sound Editor" commands are useful for, to have a companion application (such as Sound Forge) that's designed for sound editing to be used for processing effects into media. Otherwise, use the realtime FX right in CD Architect.

Yes, using the editor is possible, but by including plug-ins in CDA, you have, by definition, made it a 'mastering' application - with all the tracks on the timeline for instant audible and (not) visible comparison. It would be nice to be able to complete the job in the one app. Editing is a different process, to me ...

Well Ted, don't hit yourself too hard. I think the only NON .0 version SonicFoundry software i've ever seen is SoundForge 4.5. Most updates are given letter designations ... 5.0a for example.
