CDarchitect/Vegas3

As a long time user (and fan) of CD architect, I purchased Vegas3 assuming all the functions of the original CD architect were included. Although it does similar things, it seems to be lacking several key features that made the original so wonderful to use. Most notably, the CD emulation transport (eg: countdown between indexes and track skip, play from index) appears to be gone. Am I missing something?

I agree. I asked some questions about this when the beta was released but never got clear answers. You'll notice in the Features listing for VV3, it says it uses "CD Architect Technology". I don't find the user interface as simple to use for this as it was in the actual CD Architect program.

I'm still using CD Architect to create the ".cdp" file and then opening that in VV3 to burn it. Maybe somebody from Sonic Foundry could shed some light on the subject.

As many of you know, CD Architect is a discontinued product. If CDA was paying its way, of course it would not have been discontinued, but we had been losing money on the product for some time and for financial reason we could not continue to offer support or upgrades. CDA worked with what it worked with, and that is still the case today.

Enough people have requested CD mastering to make this a worthy feature candidate for Vegas 3 and possibly other SF applications in the future (no promises).

We will continue to refine the CD Mastering features as Vegas evolves. We do want this to be your CD mastering tool of choice and we hope you agree that Vegas is a good place for it- record, edit, mix, master all in Vegas.

Thanks for tuning in to this. I guess all I'm asking for (hee, hee) is to please incorporate the CD emulation feature in a future release of VV3. That's all it really needs to be a great mastering tool! Thanks and keep up the good work.

You can sort of do the cd emulation thing (at least by skipping from track to track during playback) by using ctrl .
