Change Default Still Clip Length?

rbrown3rd wrote on 5/26/2002, 10:41 PM
Is there a way to change the default length of clips created by dropping still images in VV or VF? I am making videos of old still images to music and in order to make them come out to the length of the music I have to adjust the length of each of them. It would be nice to calculate the length required based on the number of images divided by the length of the music plus a factor for cross fades. Then I could just quickly drag and drop the images in and be done with it.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice.

you can drop all your images on the timeline at once and have a whole slideshow with transitions based on the settings here:

Options | Preferences | Editing:
set New Still Image Length
check Automatically overlap multiple...
set Cut to Overlap Conversion Amount for transition time

Neat. Thanks.

It must make a difference using VF instead of VV. I canfind no Editing preference under options. Is this a setting that I cannot change in VF?

I haven't used VF, but this is an option in VV2 and VV3. any VF folks know where the default still image length would be?

rbrown3rd, in VideoFactory this setting is hidden deep in internal preferences. It's not good to play with it until you become very familiar with how the software works as you can really mess up your installation badly. If you're really curious, go to the VideoFactory forum and search on "internal pref" and you'll find tons of information.

As a side note, if you have questions specifically about VideoFactory, you should probably post them in the VideoFactory forum :)

Kelly, there seems to be a difference with the Vegas forum. This is only my observation:

1. Vegas gets more hits/responses than the VF forum.

2. (Don't take this wrong if a VF user is reading this): The responses in the Vegas forum seem to be much more technical.

3. Chienworks is every where, willing to help, so it doesn't matter where you post!

;)

I post here because as Stiffler points out the users of this, the Vegas Forum, seem to be more technical. I truly appreciate Chienworks's and Cheesehole's replies. I found the internal settings and was able to easily change the default clip settings. Let me point out that I am a computer science professional in my real life so changing the default clip length was no big deal. The thing that I could not find in the VF internal settings was a setting for default overlap. That sure would be nice. Maybe I need to upgrade to VV.

rbrown3rd: I've searched for that and couldn't find it either. I don't think it's possible with VideoFactory.

Bummer. That would be a nice feature.
