Change length of several events

OK, been at this now for quite awhile.... building a combo still & video slide show. Is there a way to extend the length of several slides at the same time? Everything defaulted to 5 seconds (I saw the message about changing the default), but now I would like to select all slides, and extend them all the exact same amount of time until the total duration equals the length of a music track.....

Looks like grouping the events was the ticket..... was that the correct way to do it? Also, I could use a a better explanation of stretching an event....

What is the ultimate impact of grabbing, say the right edge of an event, and sliding it left, vs doing the same thing while the ctrl key is held?? The description in the help file is a bit cryptic.

OK - I kinda answered my own question to a limited degree. In a still picture, there really is no difference. But in an action event, it changes the total duration, so stretching it out causes it to be slower - at least, it did for a credit roll.

Yep, you've got it. Without the control key, you merely change when the event stops playing, but it still plays the same speed. If you move the end of the playback out past the end of the clip, then it starts playing over again from the beginning.

Using the Ctrl key while stretching maintains the current endpoint of the clip, but slows it down so that the playback takes as long as the event is stretched out for. You can also Ctrl-squish it to the left to speed it up.
