Change volume for an event in the timeline

Vetteman wrote on 6/26/2010, 4:41 PM
I'm new to this SW.

I have one event in a time line that I would like to change the volume without affecting the other events.

I've gone through the instructions and can get to the line to drag but it will only let me go softer, not louder.

I can get to a place where I can change the volume on the entire timeline, but that's not my goal.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Is there something in the program set up that I should change?

Thanks for helping a newbie.

Right Click->Switches->Normalize

But this doesn't allow you to adjust the volume as needed, does it?

I would think what he wants is Insert > Audio Envelopes > Volume.

That would be a next option if Normalize doesn't add enough gain to allow the desired adjustment in relation to the other clips. Chances are it will in the absence of any big transients.

Also, adding a volume envelope introduces the potential unintended consequence of clipping, Normalize in itself doesn't.

So one thing at a time, please; this is a brand new user.
