I always just click on the Event FX button on either the clip/event, track header, or project window. I've never used that menu option.

Now I notice a funny thing - if I drag the mouse over the Preview window then everything OUTSIDE that area is transformed to the FX I have choosen!!
So how do I choose to apply the FX to the whole screen/scene?

Weird program - but getting the hang of it slowly though.

Turn OFF the "split screen" view. The button is just above the preview window.

Just so you're straight with FX filters. Nothing weird, actually rather clever.

Drag and drop on the preview window, it effects the whole project.
Drag and drop on the track header, it effects the whole track dropped on.
Drag and drop on an event, it only effects the event.

What Jet was referring to is toggling between 'before and after' views. You do that by clicking on the split screen view icon, 4th from left above preview window.
