Changing Interface

Hi! While using the media generator effects function, I accidently moved the window down to the bottom left corner of the VV4 interface and it locked in that location that shows the transitons, Explorer, media generator functions. I can't seem to get it out of there, everytime I pull up a media generator it goes straight there, I liked it floating arounf the VV4 interface. How can I get it back to a "float" environment? Thanks in advance tom

Hi Tom,

Try dragging on the vertical line under the x in the upper left corner of the FX panel:

I think I did a Homer (simpson).....I had undocked the preview window using the thin vertical line Marty described. But then as I was moving it around, I somehow docked it again and this time pressing & dragging the thin vertical line had no effect. The same with the vertical line in the other windows (media pool, trimmer, audio master). I'm a newbie, so I wonder if I had unknowningly reset some preferences.
Thanks,
Aldo.

Aldo, one thing you can do, sort of as an emergency recovery, is to reset all preferences to their default states. This will reset everything you've ever changed, including the positions of the windows & such. Quit Vegas, then hold down the Ctrl & Shift keys while starting it again. Warning ... even preferences you wanted changed will be reset when you do this.

Thanks, Chien. I was able to restore all the windows to the original default settings but I still can't activate the thin vertical line. But I can live with that. I just resized everything so that i got a good-sized preview window, which is what I wanted in the first place. I made the margins of the preview correspond to the outer limit of the safe areas marker.
