Changing Properties (alpha channel) for mult files

I know there can be better was to do this from the start - but I have a question based on where I am now - and based on a short timeframe I have left.

I have 400+ targa files of text that were made by someone to be subtitles. They are all the same color scheme just different words.

Everything works great if I:
1. bring each single file in
2. go to properties - media - and set the alpha channel setting
3. move /stretch the file to the proper words.

The question is - is there a way I can do a global set of ALL of these subtitles (maybe the track level - or some special select-all)
that allows me to make the alpha change in one shot ....

Thanks
Allen

There IS a ChangeAlphaChannel.js Script. It changes from "None" to "Premultiplied". Do "Select All" and then run Script.

But I'm not sure just what you NEED to do then to make the selected BLACK become transparent?

Hmmm...

I believe if you select all of them in the Media Bin, you can change them all at one time.

thanks guys -

we jsut tried it in the media bin - it LOOKS like it is letting me change it - but then I notice in reality it only changed the first one!

is this a bug?

Dave - I tried this sometime back, with Paste Event Attributes - hence the Script thingy I proffered. I suppose "Paste MEDIA Properties" is the one we are after.

Yes, only the first one. Not a BUG, rather a way of dealing with Media attributes - I guess. When does a Media Property become an Video Event Property? Discuss? Is transparency a property of the "Media" OR the "Video Event"? We KNOW what we want. I suppose it is HOW these aspects have been formulated for and into the program by the designers of the program. Personally, I would now think that transparency is an Video Event Property? But there again where on Earth does one draw-the-line?

This is a very interesting discussion and one I've had and will still have with our friends here, and, on the few occasions I do get the opportunity to speak directly to those that DO "know".

Grazie

This Script will change the alpha channel of ALL items in the Media Pool to the specified setting. You can pick which setting you want by uncommenting the proper line. By default it will set it to "Premultiplied".
