changing timeline images? quick question

Having a Premiere user, I have gotten use to the image of the first frame of a file on a timeline. However, I notice with VV4, it is unlike Premiere in that it has images all across the timeline. Is there anyway that I can have the first and last frames for the images on the timeline or even no images at all or am I stuck with with all the images of the frames?

The reason I am asking is because when I seek to a cut point or am searchin for a place to put my cut, it seems like VV4 has to update the images in the timeline everytime I scroll further in the video.

Generally this isn't a problem - the update occurs on this very average system I'm using to type this instantly. Not saying your system is slow, but asking maybe if there are other issues making Vegas run slower on your machine?

I use premiere too, and it's wierd to go from only 1 thumbnail to a whole bunch of them. You'll get used to them. Also, Vegas actuatly updates vaster then premiere on my p667! about 2-3 times faster! I'd say it's because of those wonderful pre-rendered wave form graphs. :)

Ok then how do I switch to none? Cuz this timeline refresh everytime i change to a new set of frames is enoying as heck.

It's in Options - Preferences. I can't remember the exact location off the top of my head and I'm not in front of Vegas at the moment. If I remember correctly, it also turns off the WAV file display. Personally, I LIKE the pictures. I'd recommend leaving them on for a while and see if they grow on you.

It is in Options - Preferences on the General tab. UNCHECK the box labeled: "Draw Waveforms and Frames in events". This will turn off all of the pictures AND the audio waveforms.

pjproductions, what format are your source files? If you're using something compressed like MPEG or DivX then it will take quite a while for the thumbnails to update. If you're using DV or uncompressed then this should be almost instantanous.
