Chase to MTC prob. Peter, please respond

I'm using beta 2, I have a project loaded with 7 tracks and a few effects. It plays great when I hit the
play button or spacebar. It will not play when "chase to MTC" is enabled. I know I have my devices
and options set up right, because when I select "incoming MTC" as the source in the clock window, the
correct time ticks off and it says "locked to midi time code", but the tracks do not play.
I'm using a Midiman 4x4/s to generate 30fps non drop SMPTE, looped back into the SMPTE IN. In
the Vegas sync options I have Midiman 4x4/s SPMTE in selected as the device at 30fps non drop.
Both Cakewalk and CoolEdit Pro lock up nicely using this method, why won't Vegas?

Hi John:

Possibility:
What is the time that is being read - i.e what is the "zero" time of your MTC
input?

If it is say 1:00:00.00 and your project start time is 0:00:00.00, then the tim
e is most likely past the end of the song and Vegas wont start. You need to set
up the offset. You do this by going to the project properties and setting the
ruler offset to the input time "zero". Be sure to enter it in the format you
are syncing to.

Let me know whether this is the problem or not.

Thanks
Peter

Thanks for the quick reply. Here is whats happening:
I checked what you said and both my incoming MTC and ruler time start at 0:00:00.00. The format is correct, in fact if I
purposely input the wrong format, the Time Window turns red and it says "wrong format".
For the hell of it, I tried arming an empty track for recording, turning on "chase to MTC", and inputting my MTC starting 1 minute
into the song. Vegas dutifully recorded silence at the correct time, but the other tracks did not play. They do not play under any
circumstances while chasing to MTC.

I have tried repro here with no luck. There are no other reports of problems
with chase. I am really at a loss.

Is SRP turned on or off?

Peter

That's it! SRP was turned off. With SRP turned on. It now plays while chasing to MTC. I did not see anything in the help file or
manual that said SRP had to be on for chase to work.
Thanks for your time.

This appears to be a bug. Thanks for helping me find it....
