Cheapest consumer HD camcorder?

First off, I did a search going back one year and didn't get exactly what I wanted.

My wonderful sony dv camcorder just broke and I am considering getting an HDV one to replace it. I am strictly a consumer. Furthermore...I NEVER use any manual features on my camcorder. I do video purely to record family and friends then edit w/ vegas as my favorite hobby/passion. That all being said, what are the 2-3 cheapest HD camcorders available..be it record to HD, miniDV tape, etc?

Thank you,
Carson

I would say if you look on ebay the hc1 or hc3 would/should be pretty cheap for hdv (also take a look on bhphotovideo.com as they offer rebates and are reputable).

For what you want the new Canon HDV palmcorder would seem ideal, from prelim reports it's even a useable still camera.

It seems like the HC1 is probably my best bet.

If you want to stay in the Sony camp the A1 offers so much more. You can quickly outgrow the HC1. I think the HC1 is no longer in production, we'll be selling ours off soon.
