choppy transitions VMSPlatinum6

Hey Folks who love to solve problems,

Have used SV Movie Studio 4 often over past year with no problems, so to speak:) However, upgraded to Platinum 6 last week and for the life of me can't make smooth transitions. Slow, jerky, just plain yuck no matter how much, or little, time I give 'em. Is it a setting I didn't have to bother with in 4, are they buggy, or what?

VMS4 still works great!!

I gues you are talking about jerky transitions in the preview window?
If so, the previewing is using a lot of CPU time. On my old Pentium 2,8 they were jerky too, and in the Windows Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+DEL) the CPU usage often went to 100%.
In order to be able to syncronize the pictures and transitions to the music I had to preview in Draft quality.
Now I built a new machine with a Core Duo T2500 and having 2 GB of RAM the Paging File is switched off.
If I preview in 1366x768 Best Full quality, the CPU usage is 3-5% jumping to over 40% on both CPU's at every transition.
If I preview at a lower quality the CPU usage goes down, i.e. at Draft it only jumps to 12-13% at every transition.

I also used VMS 4 before, and I also noticed, that the previewing in VMS 6 Platinum seemed to be more CPU consuming - however I was so lucky, that the old machine simlpy died after a full nights rendering with 4-5 instances of VMS running in parallel - and then I had an unbeatable excuse to build a faster machine - and the T2500 is really handling VMS 6 in a superb way.

Yes, I was and thank you. Draft works perfect - problem solved! And I am good with that since there is no way I'm getting anything new anytime soon.
I'm using Dell 4600 2.6, 2GB RAM and l just got a 21" Samsung LCD widescreen last month.

I love VMS, however, I also use 3-D Album & Showbiz . This morning I purchased 2 ProDad Adorage Effects packages, so now I'm probably really in trouble. May have to quit my real job to find time to play.

Thanks again for your help.
