Not a lot to go on here, but I would try several things:

1) Easiest -- shut down, disconnect capture hardware, then reconnect. Reboot & try again.

2) Try capturing a tape with Vegas' vidcap or other capture software to verify camera/computer functionality.

3) Uninstall Cinecap, do some housecleaning with a tool like Pirisoft's Ccleaner, reinstall Cinecap.

I have cleaned up the system and disconnected everything and rebooted the computer. tonight i fired up the program and was able to transfer 2 - 50 ft reels .Then on the 3 rd reel i received the error message again.cinecap has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.choices :send error report or don't send .either choice shuts down cinecap. There is no way around it.I have contacted alternaware ,and am waiting for a response. The camcorder works fine in windows movie maker.this message even happpens with the cmaera not connected.when i open cinecap, john

Thanks for following up. Sounds like Alternaware needs to get involved, at least with making suggestions. Good luck!
