Dunno. If you are looking for a true cross-platform intermediate, try Avid DNxHD.

Thanks musicvid,
I'll use DNxHD if the other person asks me for certain specific shots, but they want to access this whole backup folder of Cineform AVIs I have (about 500 gigs or so!).

Since they won't be paying me for the time to convert everything I was looking for an easy way for them!

For some reason my email is not working, so I can't email Cineform directly.

If anyone else has done this with cineform, please let me know!

Cheers,
kairosmatt

Yes, you can do this but you'll need to convert them to the Cineform quicktime wrapper using HDLink. It's faster than re-encodes but it will take some time. I delivered a terabyte of footage this way to a Final Cut user who only had the free player and all went well.

CineForm AVIs do play without rewrapping to MOV. However QuickTime and FCP are known for get the gamma wrong, and it stupidly (or maliciously) assumes AVIs are 1.8 gamma. The rewrap to MOV help protect against the many pitfalls of Apple Quicktime.

Thanks for clearing that up guys,

I'll pass along the info and see what they want to do.
