Cineform Going red in VP 8.1??? Help.

Hello all,
Trust me when I say that I get as sick of my desperate pleas for help as you do.

I finally got Vegas back working and even registered. I had to use 8.1. I have been rendering my files to Cineform. I now go to edit some of them

And this one file keeps going pure red with no audio or video. I assume the rest will soon follow. OMG. WTH? I can't deal with this.. I have to start working.

*sigh*

any ideas what this could be??

Thanks for putting up with me.

Joshua - based upon what i"m seeing in your system specs - you're editing on a laptop? How much RAM do you have?

I use to deal with these issues until Vegas Pro 9.0e - my desktop runs 8GB RAM, my laptop - 4GB - You are going to run into issues with the 8.x series just because - even earlier version sof 9.0 had this issue raise its ugly head.

This is a memory handling issue within Vegas Pro. If you save the project, close it and open it again, you should see the Red clip bug disappear for a time - it's a known issue that was heavily discussed in the past.

I ran into it last December and I was forced for awhile to ditch Vegas Pro and edit in another NLE for a project I was having problems with using Cineform AVI's - I have since moved back to Vegas Pro 9.0e and so far, I haven't dealt with the Red Clip bug.

Try my recommendation and see if it helps.

Unfortunately, Cliff is right... I found no way around the red frame issues until I finally got to Vegas 9e used in combination with much more memory than I could access with a 32bit system. I have 12 GB RAM with Windows 7 64bit and Vegas 9e 64bit and I never encounter red frames anymore. I don't think there was ever a satisfying solution with Vegas 8/Cineform around the red frame issue.

good stuff... Nice to know someone else has dealt with this. I thought I had a curse or something.

the problem is that I have 8Gbs of memory. 6mbL2 cache.. i7 procesor. etc.. Windows 7.

so I think I am hopeless.

thanks.

But if your system and/or Vegas are only 32bit, I believe you can only access 2GB of RAM. That's the issue with Vegas 8.

Joshua - you're not hopeless - you're using a version of Vegas Pro that has technological issues that can't be resolved until you move to Vegas Pro 9.0e

Yeah, but I can't afford Vegas Pro 9.0e.

then try 8c. It has been rock-solid for me for editing, and I use Cineform almost every day in 8c (8.1 was a dog). The problem with 8c is rendering; but there are many tricks that work (for very patient folks) - search this forum for "rendering" in the title, especially back a year or two (now I always render in either 9C-32 or 9e-64 and almost never have a problem).

If you own 8.1, then you are entitled to 8.0c .. You need to resolve the issue that is preventing you from using 8.0c. . I tried 8.1 when it came out -- never was happy with it. 8.0c always ran solid for me (under Vista 64 and Win7 64) ..
