Cineform Neo Scene not converting properly?

Hey everybody,

Running a trial version of Neo Scene and it seems no matter what I do, the playback rate for the video is stuck at 2x speed. The source video is AVCHD 720/30p. Even when I lay the converted clip to the timeline, the audio is how it should be, but the video has been sped up and is not in sync within the event.

Am I missing something here? I really want it to work properly so I can give it a good test run.

I don't suppose your source if from a Panasonic AVCCAM (HMC40 or HMC150)? Their 30p formats are recorded as over 60i (by duplicating each frame). I have seen reports that just dropping the native mts files in these formats results in 2x playback speed. That might be confusing NeoScene too. If so, I suggest you click the de-interlace box in NeoScene.

Rich- Actually yes, sorry I didn't mention the fact that the clips are indeed coming from a Panasonic HMC150. When I work with the 30p files in Vegas, it is saying that the clips are 59.94 so I am assuming that means 60i?

I tried just about every combination in the Neo Scene settings to get them to convert properly and nothing was fixing it. Including selecting deinterlace. :(

As I mentioned, when I put the converted clip on the timeline it looks like a stair step. The audio is the proper length, and the video is shorter because it converted to 2x. So I don't know whats going on. I emailed support at Cineform and we'll see if I get a quick response. I'm not holding my breath.

Dan- I didn't really see anything at Cineforms site for a patch in the short time I was able to look around. Hmm....

I have NeoScene and an HMC40, but I rarely shoot in 30p. I am pretty sure I tested a 30p format some time ago and the deinterlace worked for me (but my recollection could be off).

Since _dan_ is the CTO at Cineform I am pretty sure he knows what he is talking about (-: Perhaps he will post a link.

RIch- I didn't think I had said anything that was contradictive to what Dan was saying, but rather that I couldn't find it.

ECB- Thanks for that link. I had already contacted support at Cineform and Jake responded rather quickly (HUGE thumbs up for that!) and he sent me a newer build of Cineform Neo than I had downloaded. Sadly though, it didn't change anything and my clips are still coming out 2x speed in video, 1x for audio.

This isn't a rant thread or anything. I think Cineform is a neat product and will definitely help me out. I just can't get it to work so I'm bummed.

I even tried the doublespeedfix.reg file patch and it didn't seem to do anything. :(

Can somebody help me out here:

I put in a bad registry entry that may be preventing Cineform from doing what it should be. How the heck do I find it now and remove it? Jake sent me a couple of entries.....one was on and one was off. I was only supposed to install on and I installed both. My ignorance shined through and didn't realize that off shouldn't be there.

I haven't had much experience with getting into the registry to make changes.

Open up the registry. Then go to the "Find" box on the pull down menu.
Type in the "whatvever you put in that you don't want" in the find box.
Hit "Find Next" . The Registry will search and find it. Then delete the string that you don't want. Whatever change you make is permanent. You don't want "Cats" or "Pet Mice" running on top of the keyboard else you be in big trouble.
