Many Vegas users who also use Cineform went through this back when Vegas 9 was initially released, as discussed in this http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=653588Post[/link]. I tend to think we're going through it all again, and Sony either intentionally isn't supporting Cineform or they don't care.

The only thing that would point away from just Cineform being the problem is that I believe that others not using Cineform are also having this problem. But at the least, this shows that Sony testers didn't fully vet the 9d release. Since the 9d release, they've said this issue with 9d is a known problem, but they either have been unable to fix it or it isn't a top priority.

Here's my thread on the same subject:

...and on DVinfo.net:

Yeah it's a problem. I went back to 7c and everything is working fine again but I hate that there seems to be no official acknowledgement from either Sony or Cineform that this problem exists.

Cineform support has been really disappointing in V9. There is also a bug which prevents us from archiving projects (save as>create trimmed copies) if any Cineform files are present in the project. Works fine in V8. Sony knows about it but I have my doubts it will get fixed. They must have a really small staff these days.

As CineForm is using the standard VfW API within Vegas, there is not much we can change on our end (nor did we change anything.) I'm sure Sony is now well aware of this issue, however my email to them on this subject bounced (no idea why,) yet we are successfully in correspondence on future projects (so we do talk regularly.) We're in the middle on releasing NeoXX v5.0, after that launch, if there have been no Sony patches released we will see what is happening from the codec side, and help out if we can.

David:

Any word yet on how NeoXX v5.0 performs with Vegas 9d?

We have changed anything to target 9d in the betas, but you can try for yourself (just in case the many other change "fix" 9d.) Neo3D is posted and others while be in a few days later.

David,
I don't want to be presumptuous and speak for you, but did you mean you "have NOT changed anything to target 9d in the betas"? At times your writing appears that you are multilingual, so I'm not sure if you misspoke there.

I'm dyslexic and Australian (does that make me multilingual?) , so my posts can be bizarre, Sorry. You are correct.

No reason, or need to apologize Dan. We really appreciate your posts in our forum!

This fixed the previous Cineform playback problem in the original production built of Vegas Pro 9.0. According to some other online sources and message boards, it also fixes the problems with version 9.0d and Cineform. Of course, if you still have a copy of the 9.0c installer files "laying around", you can replace the 9.0d aviplug.dll with the 9.0c version.
