Cineform, Vegas 9.0c, and Windows 7 x64

This combination worked fine in Vista x64, but unfortunately, in Windows 7 x64, I can't edit any Cineform video produced by Neoscene for more than a few minutes without Vegas going unresponsive for about 60 seconds. It comes back to life but makes editing a nightmare. I'm using the latest version of Neoscene.

Has anyone had this problem and/or knows a solution?

Hi,

I have a similar experience, Vegas 9.0c going non-responsive (for a minute or so). Running Win7Ultimate x64. This is true for both 32 and 64 bit versions of VP9.0c.

I am NOT editing anything special, just simple SD files. This is very serious, making the 9.0c totally useles.. Will probably go back to 9.0b tomorrow, to get some work done!!! SCS support recommended a complete fresh install, but I have not had time to do that yet. It means erasing ALL previous versions of Vegas on your system and reinstalling them. Please read instructions from support how to perform a fresh install. Dunno this effort helps but will give it a try...

I would appreciate highly if SCS this time would release a quick bug fix (9.0d).... Seems be more people that us two suffering from this behaviour...

Have you been able to avoid this problem running any version of Vegas in Windows 7 x64?

What does Cineform do that Vegas 9.0 doesn't?

I finally found the cause of my problem. It had nothing to do with Cineform.... and it had nothing to do with my hard drive (which I thought was the problem until recently)...

The problem lay with my drivers for my motherboard. It seems that the generic SATA chipset drivers that Windows 7 installs cannot handle large drives (especially two 1.5 TB drives)! After a third technical support call to Seagate, a tech guy there let me know that he's heard of generic Windows 7 SATA drivers causing this problem. My motherboard is a Shuttle SX58H7 (i7 920).

After downloading and installing all the latest Intel chipset/matrix/raid drivers reccommended by Shuttle on their website for my motherboard (all released on Oct. 13, 2009), my problem went away and I can edit without having random 30 second pauses!

Lesson: Don't rely on Microsoft Update finding the best drivers for your hardware!
