That is a geek-gasm in the making.

I went for SonicFire because of the music, although I definitely wanted CineScore for technical reasons.
With SonicFire (SmartSounds) I can purchase one single melody if I like it. Their sound library is overwhelming, the software stupid. What a pity that the music library is not separate from the technology, so that we could use the music in CineScore.

I initially thought the music from cinescore was cheesy until I started to play with it. I found it a lot of fun.

Cheesy? Only if you don't deep dive it. I have been able to use tracks from the polka theme to ridicule some politicians, from a country western theme to mimic Scott Joplin, and tracks from electronica themes in political pieces, all to great effect.

It is true that I haven't tried to score a feature length film with Cinescore, but the music really really enhances all my videos.

I hope that Sony will not do to Cinescore or its successor what Microsoft has done to everything it touches - try to satisfy everyone, by creating bloated, user-surly software that causes me to curse at it and pound on the keyboard more often than I care to think about. When I am in a rush to create a straightforward document, I do it in Wordpad instead of Word, despite having paid good money for Word.

If worse comes to worse, I will always have Cinescore or something like it on a box. Now what did I do with that copy of Supercalc?

What's with the Cinescore Shopping Cart?

The "Add To Cart" price for a Cinescore theme says $14.39 yet in the Shopping Cart it is $35.98.

I went all the way to step four and the price remains at $35.98.

Anyone know how to get them to start sending me emails again?

Just scroll to the bottom of this page. :)

See it?

I would buy a couple of Themes but how much longer will I be able to use it or want to use it once something new comes out? I have used it quite a bit with 8mm conversions but I don't want to throw my money away.

I'm surprised there wouldn't be a 2nd generation of Cinescore, unless Sony is just going to going into partnership with Smart Sound and develop a plugin for Vegas with them. Why wouldn't they just call a new Cinescore, Cinescore 2? I'm not sure I want to invest any more money for additional content that Sony is phasing out and possibly won't work with the next generation of Vegas software. I wish they weren't being as mysterious about it; but then again unless this "mystery" replacement were ready to hit the markeet they wouldn't be discounting Cinescore stuff so much right now. So we can assume that the unnamed replacements release is imminent (that's why they did right before release Vegas Pro 9 with 8)--I just wish I knew whether any new themes purchased would be compatible with the replacement program. I'd rather invest in the the newer version than waste my money on something that's on it's way out. If they would only say that the current music is compatible with whatever the new program is I'd be more likely to buy.

I think that we should assume that the current themes will NOT work with their future version(s). Especially since they use words like "moving forward" and "next generation". My buying decision on extra themes will be based on this thinking.

I am happy with Cinescore being rock solid. But who wants a rock solid program that works all the time.

I just wish it had made it to a stable 64 bit version before it bit the dust.

Just checked, and Cinescore and all the Theme packs are just gone in the Sony store. There are still links at the bottom of the page but they don't work. And I was going to buy another theme for a project I am trying to finish this week. Oh well.

I bought a boatload of theme packs, and upgraded to Acid Studio 7 for under $100.

I really like the freedom Acid offers, and I really like the automation of CS.

Sure, the canned stuff sounds canned, but if you jigger it to sound like something familiar like disco, trance, techno, house, or whatever it sounds great.

That "polka" pack is just too much though, I LMAO every time I try it. I picture Chevy Chase in Nat Lampoon European Vacation.
