clean audio function

acegrube wrote on 11/21/1999, 1:59 AM
Anybody know if Vegas has a function similiar to Cakewalk's
clean audio where all the audio events in the projects
folder that aren't currently being used by the project (i.e
somewhere in the track view) can be deleted. In lieu of
this I have been trying to delete bad takes right after
they occur but that really destroys momentum.

Thanks.

Am I wrong? There is a way to remove all of the unwanted wave-data.
After you have finished your project use with the "save as"
command "copy all media with project" to save everything (= project
file + the used wave files) in a different location + folder. Voila -
there you have your cleaned project. Now you can delete the original
folder.

Yeah, but you're still saving the original entire wave files - not the
justr the portions in use in the project. The function he is talking
about is a "compacting - where you would assign an amount to leave in
the handles for editibility...

I hope they do add a compact feature soon, though...

Although I'm not sure if Erich was really talking about a compacting
solution, "copying all media with project" gives you the ability to
get rid off bad takes you didn't delete right after you've recorded
them. It's better than nothing, isn't it?

Thanks...

Yes it is better than nothing. Thanks for the tip.

It would be nice to have a menu item that compacted and cleaned all
audio w/o having to resave the project to a new location etc.

thanks again for the tips and info

This is a good feature request. I've sent it along to the product
management team for Vegas Pro.
